Stocks

Most mornings when I am home (working from home or on a day off), I fuck around on the internet for 1-2 hours, usually reading something related to infertility.

Today I had the delightful experience of obsessing about something wholly unrelated, but totally engaging in a weird "let's play capitalist" sort of way.

I bought stocks.

Yes, I have heard that the stock market is in the tubes, and we should probably all get our money out of the bank and put it under our mattresses. But money automatically gets deposited into my retirement account every month and I have to do something with it. So I had fun researching alternative energy stocks and ETFs in preparation for an Obama presidency that invests in green energy. It was a hopeful move, and exciting to think about a possible future in which our energy usage is a positive instead of destructive thing that also happens to make me rich enough for my husband and I to retire early.

One can dream...

Today I am grateful for:
* being able to see the potential for hope in an uncertain future.

What I am doing today to take care of myself:
* a long walk with the dogs, ipod on my head and weights on my wrists and ankles. Sweat, good company, and nice views.

Hi there! I somehow found your blog by clicking around in some comments - not the most scientific way of finding a new blog, but it seems to work for me.

I especially like the positive way you end your entries - what a great way to keep from getting mired in the stress and worry of infertility. Good luck to you!

Hi Evergreen,
Now that I have internet at home again I thought I'd respond to your question on my blog as to what flyball is.

Basically it's a dog relay sport. The dog goes over 4 jumps, grabs a tennis ball from a spring-loaded box, and goes back over the jumps. A team consists of four dogs and each dog is let go at a point that will allow them to pass the returning dog right at the start line.

You can find video of it on youtube if you search for flyball. It's fast and a lot of fun. Your dog earns points to achieve titles (Cleo is currently a Flyball Master) and the team earns points to determine the best team in the region.
