What a Night Last Night

I could barely function today at work. I was distracted and kept wanting to burst into tears. But for once it was not trying to get pregnant on my mind. It was the monumental night we had last night, my joy and thrill and bliss at Obama being elected so thoroughly. Whenever I heard or read a clip from his speech last night, I nearly burst into tears. And then I'd remember that I was at work, and I had bellies to measure and babies to weigh...but did you see those numbers?!?! Oh, yeah, that's great that your baby gained a pound in a week, but did you see how Obama even took Nevada? Now I am getting greedy, and I want him to win Missouri and North Carolina too.

I live in the only red county in the very blue western Washington. Even we voted 40% for Obama (definitely some pary-line crossing, because we don't have that many Democrats here). But I was very jealous that my sister-in-law (who was so proud of the $$$ her local NRA club raised for John McCain) was in a super conservative county that none-the-less went 60% to Obama.

In a few days I will write my elected officials and tell them they better not fuck up this historic moment, that it's time to get something really done. But first, I'll spend my time basking in my joy.
