5 Weeks Old

Right now, Pinecone is asleep in her bassinette in the living room with me, with S chewing a hole in the pantry door with a hacksaw, and Oliver the super dog right next to the bassinette belting out alarm barks at things that go bump in the night. Did I mention she is asleep? Amazing.

The noise did startle her enough to roll over. Um, yes, she rolled over. Not a complete roll, but a half roll. I don't really know what that means, but it seems like a big deal. Necessity is the mother of invention, right? So she rolled away from the barking dog. Then went back to sleep. Smart girl.

Pinecone turned 5 weeks old yesterday. I can't really believe it. 5 weeks. How did the time fly? I have a feeling the rest of my life will be like that -- wondering how my little girl got so big so fast.

We just made mobiles for her tonight. Most of the time that she's awake, she's in one of our's arms. Having S home for 12 weeks (!) is such a blessing, and it means that PC always has someone anxious to hold her. But every once in a while, she's awake in her bassinette, so we made something for her to look at. We also put one on the back of my car's seat that she looks at when stuck in her car seat. Basic Subaru grey is a little too borning I think. And we made a little mobile to hang above our bed, so as she is snuggled between us at night in her little bumper-thingy, she has something to look at if she's not looking at us.

We like to snuggle together, Pinecone and I. My favorite is when she gets a little fussy at night or in the morning, and I tuck her in next to me, and she quiets right down and we both go back to sleep. Tucked in close to each other, cozy. Our other favorite thing is to sing along to Crosby, Stills, and Nash, with or without Young. PC can't decide what she likes better: CSNY while taking a bath with Mom, or CSNY while swaddled and being rocked. Our third favorite thing is an impromptu nap together in the nursing chair/recliner after getting a belly full of milk. Well really our MOST favorite thing is to just look at each other. Me at her and her at me and S at her and her at S. She's soaking it all in right now.

Lovely! I love reading about her little doings, and your cuddles. Can you show us a mobile you made?
I posted a reply to your comment on my blog.:)

So sweet, love the pictures! It is soo hard to believe how fast they grow. I think that as soon as you become a mom, time begins to move even faster! I totally concur that the rest of your days will be spent wondering how she grew up so fast.

They are so precious though, and we are definitely lucky women!!

Yay for snuggling! :) What a sweet girl you have there.

I'd like to see those mobiles too if possible.

Yes! Mobiles!

I love the sheet, too. It has that cheerful 70s look that I love for babies - so much better than the Nantucket boutique hotel look that is marketed everywhere... why would a baby need to be reminded of a long vacation from the hustle and bustle of Wall Street?
