It looks like I'll have that squirming bundle of joy on my baker's rack pretty soon, after all. Like by Friday, when I will hopefully be bringing my daughter home.
We have a beautiful little girl, now 6 days old, in our custody as we wait for the court date tomorrow, when her birthparents plan to sign their Termination of Parental Rights. Nothing is set until that happens, but it is sure looking really really good.
We got a call late Monday night about a baby that was born, and the BPs had chosen our profile. There was limited info about them, but what we heard we felt ok with. Baby was doing great and apparently healthy. So, after arranging work Tuesday morning, we got in the car and went for a long drive across the state. We arrived at the hospital Tuesday evening, too late for her to be discharged, so the hospital put us up in a "rooming in" room with a queen sized bed, and we had a comfy and moderately active night with this little angel. She is bright-eyed, alert, calm, easily soothed, a good eater, and the cutest little thing!
This afternoon, we met the birthparents and things went really well there. We have a lot of similar interests, and the BM kept referencing things that we had put in our 24-page profile. It was obvious that they read it carefully, and the things we'd written about resonated with them. The hour and a half visit, sitting on the grass in a park, went quickly and easily. Tomorrow they are scheduled to go to court, and it looks like they will sign.
We are still in shock, but it is now slowly sinking in. Crazy. I think I have a daughter.
