Pinecone Pics

Here's my little angel ..... isn't she the cutest!

We are doing well. Little Pinecone had a fussy day today, but I think it was gas. Now she's crashed out, and if I was really smart, I'd be heading to bed right now.

Nursing is going. It's a lot of work. I have a bunch of donated breast milk that she is eating, and I'm using a Lact-aid system, which is a pain with its little tube. It requires PC to suck properly, which is a mixed blessing. For long-term nursing, it is training her to suck properly. For feeding the baby NOW, it can be a struggle if she is being uncoordinated in her suck. I keep forgetting to pump, or blowing it off, so I'm only getting about 1/4 ounce now. I know if I pumped more, I'd get more sooner, but I don't want to be so focused on the pumping and nursing that I forget to enjoy my baby. Overall, it's a lot of work, but I think it will be worth it. It'll be about a month before I have a sense of what my supply will be like. Still, it's pretty cool to think that I could nurse a baby I didn't give birth to.

My favorite is skin-skin with an afternoon nap. Pure bliss. PC feels so good in my arms, and S and I fight over who gets to hold her. :-) We both can't get enough.

She's such a cutie. I'd love to hear more about the breastfeeding, it's something I'd like to do if we adopt.

She looks so alert! Which definitely contributes to the cuteness.

Sounds like things are going really well! And I am cheering you one with the breastfeeding!

So happy for you - it's truly a wonderful miracle to hold your baby in your arms! I also love the skin-to-skin time, there is nothing else like it in the world!

Your daughter is beautiful!

Ok, I'm wondering about the breastfeeding thing. Drop me a line on my blog or email me to let me know your thoughts and how that works out for you. We're adopting in November.
