My computer completely died, and we won't have time to go computer hunting until early November, so we are computer-free these days. Do you know how much extra time there is without a computer? Though I do miss my radio programs (I live in an area that gets no radio reception, so I listen on-line). As I am borrowing someone else's computer for a bit, this will be quick.
Pinecone has not taken any more steps. She is cautious and sits down immediately when she get off balance. No hurry. She will make the move when she is ready.
PC has become even more of talker than she was before (and hence probably why she hasn't been too into walking -- her brain is busy figuring out new words). Every few days she says a new word, and is up to about 20 now, although she consistently only uses about a dozen of them. She understands a huge amount, at last count about 60 words that I can figure out that she knows.
I have decided to take time off from my midwifery practice starting in January. For an undetermined length of time, at least 2 years, probably more. This has been a huge decision, as I love my job, but it feels really good. I am looking forward to focusing more on home and homesteading and of course Pinecone!
October is always a busy month, trying to get things ready for winter. It's going to be a La Nina year, which means tons of snow and flooding. They are predicting the worst in 60 years. So we are busy battening down the hatches and getting the pantry and woodshed full.
I am going on vacation in 1-1/2 weeks, and I can't wait! We are heading to Colorado to celebrate S's mom's 60th birthday. His sister and her family will be there, which is a particular treat. After 4 days with them, S will head home and PC and I will cruise across town and spend 4 days with my sister and her family (can't wait to see my boys!). Then we'll fly to California and spend a week with my parents. We'll be there for my mom's birthday, and for trick or treating in my old neighborhood. We'll wrap up with a few days at their house on the northern California coast. Mom can't wait to babysit (she will actually be home the whole time I am there, which is monumental for the work-a-holic that she is), so I am looking forward to doing some sewing and reading and rejuvenating. And PC will have an excuse (2 parties!) to wear the prettiest little dress that my mom bought her at Anthropolgy. Mom only has one granddaughter, so she gets to spoil her -- a little.
Sorry to be a bad on-line buddy, but will get back into the swing of things when we have a computer again.

So glad to hear things are going well and you will get some time off! Enjoy your vacation and family time. :)
My husband and I are just beginning the process of adopting. Since we live in the same state (We're in Eastern WA) I was wondering if you'd be willing to share the name of the two agencies you considered. I can be reached at aviathompson74@gmail.com. Thanks and your daughter is beautiful!

Hi Evergreen,
Are you still going to try the homesteading this year? How are plans for that coming along? I've lost your email so can't contact you directly to ask.
